Proclamation <br />RECOGNIZING JULY, 2022, AS PARKS & RECREATION MONTH <br />AND JULY 15th AS PARKS & RECREATION PROFESSIONALS' DAY <br />-Whereas, in 1985, the U.S House of Representatives designated July as Parks and Recreation <br />Month, and this year we celebrate its 37th anniversary in the state of Florida and nationwide; and <br />-Whereas, County Parks and Conservation Areas are aesthetically pleasing, preserve the <br />ecological beauty of our community, improve water quality, protect groundwater, prevent flooding, <br />improve air quality, and provide open green spaces for people and valuable habitat for wildlife; and <br />"W ereas, Indian River County is fortunate to have many beautiful parks, playgrounds, ball <br />fields, golf courses, swimming facilities, nature trails, beaches, fairgrounds, campgrounds, <br />intergenerational recreational facilities, a shooting range, and open spaces, making our community a <br />more attractive and desirable place to live, work and play, and contributing to our economic vitality by <br />enhancing property values and attracting visitors and recreational events; and <br />-Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners values the essential services that parks and <br />recreation professionals and volunteers perform in delivering the vital recreational activities that build <br />a healthy, active community, aid in the prevention of chronic disease, and improve the mental and <br />emotional health of all our citizens. <br />Naw, Therefore, be it Proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Flork" that the Board recognizes July as Parks and Recreation Month <br />and July 15th as Parks and Recreation Professionals Day, and encourages all citizens to participate <br />in the diverse activities offered in Indian River County and to reflect on the exponential value our parks <br />and recreation professionals bring to this community. <br />Adopted this 21st day of June, 2022.
