Brown, County Administrator <br />THROUGH: Tad Stone, Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />FROM: Erin Sawyer, Staff Assistant IV <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: June 9, 2022 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Extension of Memorandum of Understanding between Humane <br />Society Vero Beach & Indian River County Florida Inc., and the Indian River <br />County Board of County Commissioners <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be given formal consideration by <br />the Board of County Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />On January 12, 2021, Indian River County entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) <br />for Animal Shelter Services with Humane Society Vero Beach & Indian River County Florida <br />Inc., which commenced on May 1, 2021 for a duration of one (1) year. Both parties agreed to <br />extend the MOU for an additional thirty (30) days, with an expiration date of May 31, 2022. At <br />this time, Indian River County and the Society wish to extend the Memorandum of Understanding <br />for an additional six (6) months, with an expiration date of November 30, 2022. The monthly <br />compensation due to the Society will be a flat rate of $43,000 ($516,000/annually). All other <br />provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding for Animal Shelter Services shall remain in full <br />force and effect. <br />FUNDING: <br />The funds, in the amount of $516,000 annually ($43,000 per month) will be budgeted and available <br />in General Fund/Agencies/Humane Society, account number 00111062-088310.
