1. A complete statement of the grievance and the facts upon which it is <br />based, and all materials related to the grievance shall be submitted at <br />Step 1 of the grievance process. Only that information presented shall <br />be considered during the grievance resolution process. <br />2. The section or sections of this agreement claimed to have been violated; <br />and <br />3. The remedy or correction requested. <br />F. The Union will be notified of any grievances filed by its bargaining unit employees. <br />Bargaining unit employees cannot use the District's or County's grievance or appeal <br />procedures for any claims falling within the definition of a grievance herein. <br />STEPS FOR GRIEVANCE PROCESSING <br />If a grievance arises, the grievant must meet with and discuss the grievance with the Battalion Chief in <br />charge of the shift within ten working days of the event giving rise to the grievance. If the grievant does <br />not have a Battalion Chief, then the grievant is to proceed to Step 1. If the grievant does not have an <br />Assistant Chief, then the grievant is to proceed to Step 2 within 10 working days of the event giving rise <br />to the grievance. In the event the issue in dispute cannot be resolved between the supervisor and the <br />grievant, the grievance shall be presented in writing by the grievant at Step 1 (or applicable Step as <br />outlined above) of the grievance procedure within five working days from the date of the supervisory <br />meeting. Such written grievance must indicate that the matter had been reviewed with the immediate <br />supervisor. <br />Step 1: The grievant shall present the written grievance to the Assistant Chief. The Assistant Chief <br />shall meet with the grievant, which a union steward or a union representative may accompany if <br />the union is not the grievant. The Assistant Chief shall reach a decision and communicate it in <br />writing to the grievant with a copy to the union if it is not the grievant within ten working days <br />from the date the grievance was presented to him. If the grievance is not satisfactorily resolved, <br />the grievant may forward the grievance to Step 2. <br />Step 2: The grievant shall present the written grievance within five working days from the date of the <br />decision at Step 1 to the Fire Chief. The Fire Chief shall meet with the grievant, which a union <br />steward or a union representative may accompany if the union is not the grievant. The Fire <br />Chief shall reach a decision and communicate it in writing to the grievant with a copy to the <br />union if it is not the grievant within ten working days from the date the grievance was presented <br />17 <br />
