Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes - Final October 18, 2022 <br />cost of connections could be paid through the tax roll, with a 10-20 year payoff <br />depending on the amount financed; and 5) require once connected to County <br />water, households would not be allowed to return to well water. <br />He stated no funding was needed at this time; however, if the County were to <br />move forward with these proposals he anticipated funding for the proposed <br />Sewer & Water Infrastructure Funding Tactic (SWIFT) program would come <br />from optional sales tax. <br />A lengthy discussion ensued between the Board and staff as the Commissioners <br />voiced their concerns regarding the proposed recommendations for mandatory <br />connections. <br />Sebastian Vice Mayor Fred Jones spoke in support of mandatory connections. <br />He commented it was important to get as many septic tanks off the river and <br />throughout the city. <br />It was the consensus of the board for staff to return to the Board with <br />revisions to the proposed code changes and recommendations to encourage <br />water and sewer connections. <br />13.
