IIS-93-05-ED <br />BACKGROUND <br />On November 7, 1996, the Board of County Commissioners approved a <br />direct purchase of materials and installation of a fence for the <br />wetlands at the West Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The fence installation has been completed and accepted. The <br />contractor has submitted a payment request for services rendered. <br />The final cost is adjusted as per the as -built. Based on the <br />amount of fence installed (7,576 linear feet and one gate), the <br />final cost is $88,985.40. <br />RE99MU NDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends approval <br />of the final pay request in the amount of $88,985.40. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />the final pay request to Martin Fence Co. in the <br />amount of $88,985.40, as recommended by staff. <br />REQUEST ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />REPORT ON ARBITRATION MATTER -.TAMES A. CUMMINGS, INC. - <br />MARTIN PAVING CO. <br />Assistant County Attorney Terry O'Brien gave a brief report on <br />the arbitration hearing regarding the James A. Cummings, Inc. and <br />Martin Paving Co. claim of $278,000 for work done on the judicial <br />complex. Late yesterday, February 26, 1996, word was received that <br />the arbitrators had issued their finding and that the "claim of the <br />claimant (Cummings and Martin) was denied in- its entirety". He <br />expressed his opinion that Centex -Rooney and Infiltrator Systems <br />had offered a great deal of assistance to the County in this matter <br />and asked the Board to authorize letters of appreciation for their <br />participation in this arbitration. <br />FEBRUARY 27, 1996 30 <br />
