energy emergency allowing the Governor to suspend such pa,.�.:, <br />of the federally -mandated State of Florida Air Implementation <br />Plan as may be necessary to allow the burning of available fuel <br />oil supplies, and to suspend the applicability of certain state <br />and local environmental regulations: <br />NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Indian River <br />County Commission that the Governor of the State of Florida <br />should: <br />1. IMMEDIATELY DECLARE the existence of an energy <br />emergency in Florida pursuant to this authority under the <br />Florida Disaster Preparedness and Energy Resources Acts; and <br />2. PETITION THE PRESIDENT of the United States of <br />America pursuant to the Clean Air Act to declare the existence <br />of a regional or national energy emergency, authorizing the <br />Governor to suspend such parts of the State of Florida Air <br />Implementation Plan as may be necessary to allow the burning <br />of available alternative fuel oil supplies for up to four <br />months at individual electrical power plants; and <br />3. SUSPEND such portions of the State of Florida Air <br />Implementation Plan and applicable state and local regulations <br />as may be necessary during the present energy emergency, in <br />order to assure an adequate supply of electric energy to <br />Indian River County. <br />
