ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously approved <br />the FY -95/96 SLA Agreement and the revenue <br />utilization, as set out in staff's recommendation. <br />AGREEMENT IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />RENEWAL OF CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE - INDIAN <br />RIVER SHORES ALS/BLS PRE -HOSPITAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL <br />SERVICES <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 3/5/96: <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler, County Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: March 5, 1996 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Renewal of a Class "A" Certificate of Public Convenience <br />and Necessity for Indian River Shares Department of Public Safety to <br />Provide ALS/BLS Prehospital Emergency Medical Services <br />It is respectfully requested the information contained herein be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On April 12, 1994, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners approved <br />an Emergency Medical Services ALS/BLS Certificate of Public Convenience and <br />Necessity for the Town of Indian River Shores. This certificate was necessary in order <br />to comply with Indian River Code of Laws and Ordinances as specified in Chapter <br />304. The certificate was approved and issued for a period of two years and will <br />expire on April 11, 1996. <br />An application for the renewal of the certificate has been submitted by the Town. <br />Staff has reviewed the application and certifies that all requirements of Chapter 304 <br />of the County Code have been met which would justify the renewal and issuance of <br />the referenced certificate. <br />As in prior renewals, the service area for this EMS ALS provider would be confined <br />to the municipal limits of the Town of Indian River Shores except when assistance is <br />requested in a mutual aid situation. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Section 304.11 of the Indian River County Code of Laws and Ordinances provides for <br />routine renewal of the EMS Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on <br />39 <br />MARCH 12, 1996 BOOK 97 pw 530 <br />
