4 ,0 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82- 128 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING INDIAN <br />RIVER COUNTY'S DESIRE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STATE OF <br />FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES' "SAVE OUR <br />COAST" PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County has recognized the need to <br />acquire and preserve for recreational purposes beachfront land on <br />the Atlantic Ocean, ana <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County called for a referendum of <br />qualified voters of Indian River County on the question of whether <br />to issue up to $5,000,000 in general obligation bonds to be used <br />for the purchase of beachfront property on the Atlantic Ocean, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the voters of Indian River County approved the <br />issuance of the bonds and the County Commission subsequently <br />adopted a bond resolution authorizing the bonds, and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County now desires to participate <br />in the State of Florida "Save Our Coast" Program to maximize the <br />resources of the County and the State in a cooperative effort, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the proceeds of the County bond issue may be <br />used to match state funds for the purchase of beachfront property <br />on the Atlantic Ocean under the "Save Our Coast" Program, and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County intends to file for <br />validation of the bonds within the next week making the funds <br />available within eighty (80) days, and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County intends to use the proceeds <br />to purchase beachfront property and use other funds when available <br />to develop the areas purchased for outdoor recreation and to <br />continuously budget sufficient funds to maintain and operate the <br />sites as developed, and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County intends to develop the <br />areas acquired in stages with initial recreational activities to <br />commence as soon as possible after acquisition, and <br />WHEREAS, all properties acquired under the "Save Our <br />Coa3t" and Beach frond Program will be devoted to recreational <br />purposes in perpetuity. <br />-1- <br />
