(a) If you are a smoker, stop smoking, for your own <br />health and the health of others. <br />(b) If you are a smoker, refrain from smoking <br />indoors or smoke indoors only in areas designed for smoking where <br />the ventilation has been increased. <br />(c) If you are a non-smoker, out of concern for ? <br />l <br />others, positively encourage your friends and members of your <br />family who smoke to stop smoking. <br />(d) If you are the proprietor or manager of a <br />building such as a retail store, grocery store, bank, hospital or <br />other type of business where customers or visitors enter your <br />building for relatively short periods of time, place a message at <br />the entrance to discourage smoking. <br />(e) If you are the proprietor or manager of a <br />business where customers or workers remain in the building for <br />long periods of time, set aside special areas or lounges for <br />smoking and non-smoking areas. <br />(f) If you are the proprietor or manager of a busi- <br />ness such as a restaurant, set up smoking and non-smoking areas <br />and ask or offer customers their choice of seating. Those who <br />prefer smoking can be seated on one side and those who prefer non- <br />smoking on the other. The size of the two sections could be <br />flexible and based on customer demand at any given time. <br />(g) If you are responsible for conducting a meet- <br />ing, request that there be no smoking and see that all ashtrays <br />are removed from the area. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Administrator for <br />Indian River County is directed to establish smoking and non- <br />smoking areas in all County operated buildings and is further <br />authorized to provide and distribute copies of this resolution to <br />the general public in Indian River County. <br />The foregoing resolution was offered by Commissioner <br />Pletcher who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded <br />by Commissioner Bird and, upon being put to a vote, the <br />vote was as follows: <br />-2- <br />
