J <br />L� <br />WHEREAS, in each of the last seven years, more than 17,000 of Florida's children from ages 10 <br />through 18 years have given birth to children; and <br />WHEREAS, a summit on the prevention of teen pregnancy, which included private and public <br />representation from around the state, identified public awareness as an important strategy for addressing this <br />problem; and <br />WHEREAS, the prevention of teen pregnancy should be a priority to the County of Indian River, and <br />WHEREAS, the County of Indian River should further focus its attention on the prevention of teen <br />pregnancy by building awareness of the causes, extent, and consequences of the problem; building linkages <br />between local, state and national resources; and calling its citizens to action in their communities to address this <br />critical issue: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Florida that the week of April 23 through May 1. 1996 be designated as <br />TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION AWARENESS WEEK <br />in Indian River County. The Board finther urges all citizens of this county to support the local agencies involved <br />in curtailing this problem. <br />Adopted this 23 day of April, 1996. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Fran B. Adams, Chairman <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously designated <br />the week of April 23 through May 1, 1996 as Teen <br />Pregnancy Prevention Awareness Week in Indian River <br />County. <br />G.
