GRANT (MULTI -AGENCY DRUG ENFORCEMENT UNIT) <br />PROJECT GENERATED INCOME - CONSENT AGENDA <br />FROM: Joseph A- Baird <br />OMB Director <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Indian River .County Sheriff's Department wants to apply to the state to use anti-drug abuse grant <br />M.A.C.E. Unit income in the amount of $4,398.75. The M.A.C.E. Unit income was generated from <br />confiscating property in drug related activities. The Sheriff's Department will use the funds to <br />purchase the items as shown in the attachment. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the use of funds for equipment <br />and authorize the Chairman to sign the Project Generated Income. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />the use of funds for equipment in the amount of <br />$4,398.75, and authorized Project Generated Income <br />Agreement with the Department of Community Affairs, <br />as recommended in the memorandum. <br />GENERATED INCOME AGREEMENT <br />IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />F. Proclamation - Teen Pregnancy Prevention Awareness Week <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS. the children of this state should be bom healthy, grow up in a safe and nurturing <br />environment. haw the full support of their mother and father, experience educational success, achieve economic <br />independence, and reach their fullest potential in life. and <br />WHEREAS, teen pregnancy and parenting increases the likelihood of low birth weight, developmental <br />delays and disabilities, and child abuse and neglect for the infant; disruption of education, decreased income <br />potential, economic dependence on welfare, and subsequent pregnancies in the teenage years for the mother; and <br />WHEREAS, the burden associated with teen pregnancy and parenting is also borne by the taxpayers <br />of Florida through increased costs in the areas of health care, education, welfare, and juvenile crime, and <br />12 <br />April 23, 1996 <br />
