4P <br />40 <br />0 <br />j (UGCO2401.FMT):aa <br />SECTION 02401 <br />DEWATERING <br />4' <br />' PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 DESCRIPTION OF WORH <br />The work to be performed under this section shall include <br />furnishing all equipment and labor necessary to remove <br />storm or subsurface waters from excavation areas in <br />accordance with the requirements set forth and as shown <br />on the drawings.. <br />1.02 APPLICABLE CODES, STANDARDS, AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />The dewatering of any excavation areas and the disposal <br />of the water shall be in strict accordance with the <br />latest revision of all local and state government rules <br />and regulations. The Contractor shall obtain any <br />required dewatering permit from the appropriate agencies <br />prior to commencing dewatering operations. <br />PART 2 -- 'PRODUCTS (Nat- Applicable) <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 DEWATERING <br />The Contractor shall provide adequate equipment for the <br />removal of storm or subsurface waters which may <br />accumulate in the excavation. If subsurface water is <br />encountered, the contractor shall utilize suitable <br />equipment to adequately dewater the excavation so that it <br />will be dry for work and pipe laying. A wellpoint system <br />or other Engineer -approved dewatering method shall be <br />utilized if necessary to maintain the excavation in a dry <br />condition for preparation of the trench bottom and for <br />pipe laying. wellpoint holes shall be plugged with <br />concrete grout. Dewatering by trench pumping will not be <br />permitted if migration of fine grained natural material <br />from bottom, side walls, or bedding material will occur. <br />in the event that satisfactory dewatering cannot be <br />accomplished due to subsurface conditions or where <br />dewatering could damage existing structures, the <br />Contractor shall obtain the Engineer's approval of wet <br />trench construction procedure before commencing <br />02401-1 <br />
