Dewatering shall cease in a manner to <br />allow the subsurface water to slowly return to normal <br />' levels. <br />3.02 DISPOSAL <br />water pumped from the trench or other excavation shall be <br />disposed of in storm sewers having adequate capacity, <br />canals, or suitable disposal pits. Contractor is <br />responsible for acquiring all permits required to <br />discharge the water and shall protect waterways from <br />turbidity during the dewatering operation. In areas <br />where adequate disposal sites are not available, <br />partially backfilled trenches may be used for water <br />disposal, only when the Contractor's plan for trench <br />disposal is approved in writing by the Engineer. The <br />Contractor's plan shall include temporary culverts, <br />barricades, and other protective measures to prevent <br />damage to property or injury to any person or persons. <br />No flooding of streets, roadways, driveways, or private <br />property will be permitted. Engines driving dewatering <br />pumps shall be equipped with residential type mufflers. <br />END OF SECTION <br />4.. 02401-2 <br />
