C-1 <br />40 <br />f <br />(oGCO2485.rMT):aa <br />SECTION 02485 <br />GRASSING <br />{ PART 1 - GENERAL <br />a <br />1.01 DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br />The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, and <br />materials necessary for grassing all areas disturbed by <br />his operations and any other areas on the plans <br />indicated to receive grassing. It is the intent of this <br />specification that damaged areas are to be replaced in <br />kind, with sod to be used for all maintained yard areas. <br />Engineer shall designate those areas to receive seed and <br />those areas to receive sod. Engineer shall also <br />designate the type of seed/sod to be used in each area. <br />Contractor shall take all steps practical to minimize <br />the area required to be sodded or seeded. All grassing <br />shall be in accordance with Section 570-1 through 570--5 <br />of the 1986 FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and <br />Bridge Construction, except as modified herein. <br />1.02 STORAGE OF MATERIALS <br />The Contractor shall provide space for storage of sod <br />prior to placement in a manner that will not endanger or <br />restrict pedestrian or vehicular traffic or interfere <br />with other aspects of the work.. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 SOD <br />A. Types: Sod shall be St. Augustine Floratam, Argentine <br />Bahia, Centipede, or Bermuda, depending on type of <br />existing sod in adjacent area to be matched. Sod shall <br />be well matted with roots. Where sodding will adjoin, <br />or be in sufficiently close proximity to private lawns, <br />types of sod other than those listed above may be used <br />if desired by the affected property owners acid approved <br />by the Engineer. Sod shall be delivered in commercial - <br />size rectangles, preferably 12 -inch by 24 -inch or <br />larger. <br />S. Condition: The sod shall be sufficiently thick to <br />secure a dense stand of live grass. The sod shall be <br />live, fresh, and uninjured at the time of planting.
