C-1 <br />r <br />D Flanged joints shall be made with bolts or stud bolts <br />and nuts. Holts, stud bolts, and nuts shall conform to <br />American Standard heavy dimensions, semi -finished with <br />square or hexagonal heads and cold punched hexagonal <br />nuts, meeting the requirements of ASTM Designation A- <br />307. Bolt sizes shall be American Standard for the <br />flanges specified, and bolts and nuts shall have good, <br />true threads. <br />E. Gaskets shall be in accordance with AWWA Standard C-115 <br />(ANSI A21.15--86), or latest revision. <br />1.08 SUBMITTALS <br />Before starting fabrication of the cast iron pipe and <br />fittings , complete detailed working drawings shall be <br />submitted by the Contractor for approval by the <br />Engineer. Such drawings shall show the piping layouts <br />and contain schedules of all pipe , fittings, valves, <br />expansion joints, hangers and supports, and other <br />appurtenances. Where special fittings are required, <br />they shall be shown in large detail with all necessary <br />dimensions. The drawings submitted shall show flanged <br />jointed sections placed so as to be removable without <br />disturbance to the main pipe sections. <br />1.09 MARKING <br />A. Number 14 single conductor copper trace wire shall <br />be spiral wrapped or affixed to the tope of the pipe. <br />See trace wire detail M-16 for specifications regarding <br />installation. <br />1.1+0 INSTALLATI©N OF WATER MAINS <br />Unless otherwise noted on the drawings or in other <br />sections of this specification, the pipe shall be <br />handled and installed in strict accordance with the <br />manufacturer's instructions and with the applicable <br />provisions of AWWA C600. If a conflict exists between <br />the manufacturer's instructions and the AWWA Standards, <br />the manufacturer's instructions shall govern. The <br />Contractor shall use every precaution during <br />construction to protect the pipe against the entry of <br />non -potable water, dirt, wood, small animals, and any <br />other foreign material that would hinder the operation <br />of the pipe line. Where the groundwater elevation is <br />above the bottom of the trench, the Contractor shall <br />provide suitable dewatering equipment at no additional <br />cost to the owner. All piping shalt be placed in a dry <br />trench, unless wet trench installation is approved by <br />the Engineer. <br />02625-4 <br />
