Bea 98 pi ;E 359 <br />Commissioner Bird agreed that negotiations and structure of <br />the agreement are tremendously important to the future of Indian <br />River County. He suggested there might be a need for outside <br />consultants, if Administrator Chandler feels it necessary. <br />Commissioner Tippin volunteered that he is a composting <br />specialist. <br />Chairman Adams requested staff give consideration to the <br />disciplines needed and report to the Board in a couple of weeks. <br />She wanted to be certain the contract includes the ability to <br />incorporate current employees in the new operation. The Board <br />members agreed wholeheartedly. <br />Commissioner Macht suggested that a staff person visit tenants <br />of similar parks in order to get more information on employee <br />policies, profitability, relationship with parent organization, and <br />operation practices. <br />Commissioner Eggert interjected that not all recycling places <br />are the same, and Commissioner Bird remarked that we are pioneering <br />a new area. <br />Commissioner Tippin commented that the recycling industry and <br />technology is moving and changing so rapidly. <br />Commissioner Eggert mentioned the United States is way behind <br />Europe as she had seen recycling being done in Germany 10 years <br />ago. <br />Director Pinto thought it was very important, if Commissioners <br />have specific concerns, they jot them down, so that those points <br />can be covered in negotiations. He assured them that whoever is <br />doing the negotiating, any questions and issues will be brought to <br />the Board.
