PLANS %ND TEGHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />INSTALLATION OF ARTIFICIAL REEF MATERIALS <br />DESCRIPTION <br />Indian River proposes to place materials consisting of type 3 concrete railroad ties <br />in approximately 60 feet of water on four (4) permitted sites consistent with <br />requirements of DEP Contract Agreement No. OFMAS-122, a copy of which is <br />included. <br />The railroad ties will average 690 lbs/tie and vary from 7" x 12" x 8'6" to 8"x 8"x10'. <br />Some ties are broken but held together by the strand. <br />LOCATION OF PROJECT <br />The Artificial Reef sites are located approximately 12 nautical miles east of <br />Sebastian Inlet. A chartlet describing each site location is attached. The exact <br />location for material deployment will be marked by temporary buoys and verified by <br />Indian River County staff immediately prior to material placement. INSPECTION <br />The County has designated Jeffrey R. Tabar, P.E.,(County Coastal Engineer) as the <br />Project Manager. The Contractor shall give the Project Manager, or his designee, <br />access to the staging area and make provision to have the Project Manager on <br />board the barge at all times during the transportation and placement of the <br />materials. Materials placed without onsite approval of the Project Manager shall <br />be subject to removal or relocation at no additional costs to the County. The <br />Contract or shall give the County a minimum of 72 hours notice of any work <br />schedule or schedule change that requires the presence of the Project Manager. <br />IV. MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />A. Materials supplied by County. <br />1. Concrete railroad ties. Secured by donation from Florida East Coast <br />Railroad ('FEC). Railroad ties may vary in dimensions and weights as <br />described above.
