Proclamation - Welcoming the State Convention of the <br />Military Order of the Purple Heart <br />The following proclamation was presented to Ned Potter who <br />returned it to Chairman Adams for presentation to the Convention <br />group: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WELCOMING THE STATE CONVENTION OF <br />THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE PURPLE HEART <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Florida Military Order of the Purple Heart <br />has selected Indian River County as the site of its 52nd Annual Convention; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Military Order of the Purple Heart is open to only those <br />persons who have given the second highest sacrifice that one can give for <br />this Country; and <br />WHEREAS, the 85th Congress of the United States resolved and created <br />the Military Order of the Purple Heart; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County is honored to have approximately 60 <br />residents of this Military Order; and <br />WHEREAS, the state of Florida is honored to have approximately 2000 <br />members comprised of 17 chapters of the Military order; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County and its citizens are deeply honored to <br />have this County chosen as the annual convention site for 1996; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County and its citizens are further honored to <br />have the Ladies Auxiliary of the Department of Florida Military Order of the <br />Purple Heart hold their 11th Annual Convention at the same time in Indian <br />River County; and <br />WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize the debt owed by each of us to <br />each member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and their Ladies <br />Auxiliary, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the week of June 16th through the 23rd <br />is the Military Order of the Purple Heart Week and that a hearty and <br />grateful welcome is extended to all members, spouses and the Ladies <br />Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and may your stay in <br />Indian River County be a pleasant and enjoyable one. <br />APPROVED -and ADOPTED on 18th day of June, 1996. <br />7 <br />JUNE 189 1996 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />By V /� Je <br />Fran B.
