UW -96 -12 -DS <br />WORK AUTHORIZATION NO. 36 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On September 21, 1993, the Board of County Commissioners approved <br />the award of the Labor Contract bid to Driveways, Inc., Bid No. <br />4007. (See attached minutes.) The Department of Utility Services <br />utilizes the Labor Contract for renewal and replacement to replace <br />the distribution system within various areas. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The subject project is comprised of the replacement/relocation of <br />existing 8 -inch, 6 -inch, and 2 -inch lines with approximately 250 <br />linear feet of 8 -inch, 170 linear feet of 6 -inch, and 60 linear <br />feet of 2 -inch water main. This project will also include all <br />valves, fittings, 120 linear feet of service laterals, along with <br />three (3) meter connections. <br />The construction of these replacement/relocation water lines is for <br />the purpose of relocating water lines that are located across <br />subject site to the perimeter boundaries of same. This property is <br />to be surplused in the future. <br />The cost of the labor to construct the water mains under the Labor <br />Contract is $8,874.14. (See attached Work Authorization No. 36 <br />with Driveways, Inc.) The pipe, valves, and fittings will be <br />supplied by the County at a cost of $10,826.18. In-house <br />engineering, inspection, and administrative costs are estimated to <br />be $3,500.00. Funding for this project will be from the renewal <br />and replacement fund. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the <br />Board of County Commissioners approve the execution of the attached <br />agreement, which approves Work Authorization No. 36 with -Driveways, <br />Inc., to construct the water line replacement in the amount of <br />$8,874.14 to replace an estimated total of 480 linear feet of water <br />main, 120 linear feet of laterals, and 3 meter connections and <br />authorizes expenditure of $14,326.18 -.for materials and in-house <br />support, for a total project cost of $23,200.32. <br />26 <br />JUNE 189 1996 Boa 98 FA:�� 9® <br />
