The trolley also can be used <br />downtown and there is some talk about having 2 trolleys eventually. <br />She felt the trolley will be a valuable asset to the community. <br />Mr. Fritz also commented that the Section 9 funding has a <br />section for rolling stock so that they will not be seeking <br />additional funding. <br />Commissioner Bird wanted to clarify that the Council was not <br />looking at an open-air, non -air conditioned trolley, and Mr. Fritz <br />confirmed they would be looking at closed, air conditioned units as <br />it is too cold in winter and too hot in summer in our area. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, that the Board approve the <br />concept and amend the budget to allow monies to be <br />transferred from construction of a building at the <br />airport to rolling vehicles and construction on the <br />Council on Aging building, pursuant to staff's <br />recommendations. <br />Commissioner Tippin commented that this is a unique idea and <br />should bring pleasure to the community. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED THE QUESTION and the <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />GUN RANGE - REPRESENTATIVE CHARLES SEMBLER <br />Representative Charles Sembler was proud of completion of the <br />funding for the Indian River County Gun Range, and was glad to have <br />had an opportunity to do something in Tallahassee for the better. <br />This has been an issue of discussion in trying to find a location <br />and funds. The legislature has now appropriated $750,000 for gun <br />ranges around the state. Representative Sembler believed the funds <br />are sufficient and that Indian River County's range is first on the <br />list. When DEP asked for recommendations, the Coraci parcel was <br />recommended and Representative Sembler visited the site. He <br />reported that the Secretary of the Game and Fish Department and DEP <br />have been extremely cooperative in their participation. <br />Representative Sembler stated that he has made this a personal <br />project and intends to see it through to conclusion. <br />Chairman Adams reminded the Board that this attempt to have a <br />gun range has been going on for years and she is pleased that DEP <br />and Game and Fish have been cooperative. She and Community <br />Development Director Bob Keating walked the site and are very <br />comfortable with this nice location. She felt it is fitting that <br />the State has taken a lead role and hoped that Game and Fish will <br />JULY 29 1996 <br />20 <br />I <br />
