+i <br />• <br />Y A. Admixtures other than for air entrainment shall not be used without the <br />specific written approval of [lie Engineer. <br />7. 11011MS <br />A. Forms shall be built to provide a neat and workmanlike finishes{ job. The <br />' forms shall be mortar -tight and of sufficient strength material to prevent arty <br />bulging or sagging from true line and grade and to withstand vibrating. Any <br />form ties shall be removed to a depth of at least 1 112 inches, the holes <br />reamed out large enough to be adequately patched and the hole filled with <br />sand cement rnortar. <br />S. 111,AC1:MEN'1' AND I NSPEMON <br />A, Tile Contractor shall give tie Engineer sufficient advance notice of his intent <br />to pour concrete to permit inspection of the forms, placement of reinforcing <br />steel, and equipment for mixing, transporting and placing of tile concrete. No <br />concrete will be placed prior to completion of the form work and piacing of <br />the reinforcing to tie Engineer's satisfaction. No concrete shall be placed <br />unless all adequate vibrator and adequate provisions for curing are on [land. <br />Concrete test cylinders will be trade by the Engineer's representative at <br />random and at any title there is doubt about tite quality of tike concrete. <br />Failure of tike concrete to come up to design strength will be cause for rejec- <br />tion and replacement of the structure. <br />l3. Every effort shall be made to obtain a water tight and durable concrete free <br />from voids, rock pockets and the like. Should defects occur, they will be called <br />to the Engineer's attention and repaired hl accordance with his directive or, if <br />extensive replaced. <br />C. Concrete finish on exposed surfaces shall be as designated by the Engineer. <br />y. REINFORCING <br />A. All reinforcing steel shall be fabricated fronh new billet steel and shall unless <br />otherwise noted confortu to ASTM designation A615, Grade 40. All bars shall <br />be securely tied in place will, soft iron wire, 16 gage or heavier. No steel <br />chairs will be permitted. Unless otherwise rioted all bars shall have 2 inches of <br />concrete cover. All bends shall be in accordance with the A.C.I. Building <br />Code. <br />10. CURING <br />A. (lei The The concrete shall he col,tinuously cured for a period of at least 7 <br />days. Curing shall be cotnnrenced after finishing has been completed and as <br />soon as the concrete Ilan hardened -sufficiently to permit application of tie <br />curing material without marring ti,e surface. Any curing material removed or <br />damaged during the 7 day period shall be replaced innnediately. <br />After forms are removed, the surfaces exposed shall he cured by placing a <br />berm of moist earth Against theist or by any of the methods deseribed below, <br />for the remainder of the 7 clay curing period. <br />1) Wet Burlap Method: Burlap shall be placed over the entire exposed <br />surface of the concrete with sufficient extension beyond each side to <br />01307-2 <br />
