40 <br />• <br />SEC'T'ION 02307 <br />i REIWORCED CONCRETE <br />T. SCOPE <br />A. The work covered under this section shall include, but not be limited to, <br />concrete manholes, inlets, catch basins, curb, curb and gutter, street repair, <br />and sidewalks. It shall include all materials, equipiitettt, labor, finishing, <br />form work and curing. <br />2. GENERAL <br />A. The concrete shall be a workable plastic mix composed of pottland cement, <br />fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, air and water proportioned and [nixed to <br />provide the strength of concrete called for tipoit the. Plans. The water-ceinein <br />ratio shall be kept to the minimum necessary to achieve proper plachig and <br />finishing. Any item relative to concrete or reinforcing under Ihis item that is <br />not covered herein, shall be in accordance with [lie ACI 318-71 Building Code <br />and tit(: Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures by Portland Cement <br />Association. <br />I3. Concrete mixing may be done in a portable mixer, a transit- mix truck, or if <br />less than five cubic feet, in a mortar box; provided all ingredients including <br />water are accurately measured by weight or volume. Measurement by the <br />`"shovel full" is specifically prohibited. No mixer shall be loaded above its rated <br />mixing capacity. <br />C. Transit mix trucks shall not wash out their trucks on the site without the <br />specific permission of the Engineer and any waste concrete shall be removed <br />to a public dump. <br />3. CEMENT <br />A. Cement shall be porlland cement conforming to ASTM C150 types I, IA, III <br />and for I11A. Cement, if delivered to site, shall be in unbroken paper bags <br />plainly marked witli the manufactures name, the brand name, the type of <br />cement, and the weight of cement in the bag. All cement shall be properly <br />protected against dampness. Bags containing caked cement shall be rejected. <br />Cement shall be used in the same order as received, that is first in, first out. <br />4. AGGI EGATES <br />A. Aggregates shall couforin to (lie latest Florida Department of Transportation <br />Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Stockpiling of aggregates <br />shall be done in such a manner as to prevent segregation or contamination. <br />5. Alit ENTRAINMEN'T <br />A. Air entrainment is required and shall be maintained belween 3 artd G percent <br />considered as an olitinium. C"oncreic showing niure than G percent may be <br />rejected. <br />G.
