40 <br />0 <br />C. owner will pay for testing except tests which indicated <br />failure, in which case that test and all costs incurred <br />as a result thereof shall be paid for by the Contractor. <br />D. Standard slump tests shall be taken of the concrete <br />sample for each strength test and whenever consistency of <br />concrete appears to vary, The maximum slump of concrete <br />shall be 5 1/2" unless specifically otherwise noted. <br />E. Concrete that fails by test shall be replaced at no cost <br />to Owner. <br />F. Test for strength shall be made as follows: <br />1. one set of five cylinders shall be made for every 50 <br />cubic yards of concrete or portion thereof placed per <br />day. <br />2. Samples for test shall be taken at 1/4 and 3/4 points <br />of the load in mixer. <br />3. Test one cylinder at 3 days, one at 7 days, and 2 <br />cylinders at 28 days. Hold one cylinder for future <br />use if test does not comply at 2B days. <br />4. Cemcnt shall be Portland cement, ASTM C-150. <br />B. Aggregates for normal weight concrete shall meet the <br />requirements of ASTM C-33. <br />C. Mixing water for concrete shall be potable and meet the <br />requirements of ASTM C-94, <br />2.02 ACCESSORIES <br />A. Chemical Curing Compound: Application of a curing <br />compound shall be made to all slabs and such application <br />shall conform to ASTM C-309. The compound shall be <br />applied in accordance with the recommendations of the <br />manufacturer immediately after any water sheen wh:'ch may <br />develop after finishing has disappeared from the concrete <br />surface. It shall not be used on any surface against <br />which additional concrete or other material is to be <br />bonded unless it is provers that the curing compound will <br />not prevent bond, or unless positive measures are taken <br />to remove it completely from areas to received bonded <br />applications. <br />03300-2 <br />
