0 <br />f <br />C. Smooth Rubbed Finish: Concrete shall have a <br />f Smooth Rubbed Finish applied to produce an <br />Architectural Effect. <br />3. Patching, Immediately after stripping forms patch <br />{ all defective areas with mortar similar to the <br />concrete mix except that coarse aggregate shall be <br />omitted. Bulges, minor honeycomb and other minor <br />defects, as designated by the Architect, shall be <br />patched only where exposed to view. Clean, dampen, <br />and fill tie holes with patching mortar. All pa-vch- <br />ing shall follow procedures and conform to ACI 301. <br />a. Major defective areas, as judged by the Owner's <br />representative including those resulting from <br />leakages of forms, excessive honeycomb, large <br />bulges and large offsets at form joints, shall be <br />chipped away down to sound concrete. The <br />patching mortar shall be pressed in for a <br />complete bond and 'Finished to match adjacent <br />areas, or where defective areas impair the <br />strength of the member in question, as judged by <br />the owner's representative, the member shall be <br />removed or united as determined by the owner's <br />representative. <br />b. Minor defective areas, as judged by the owner's <br />representative including honeycomb, air bubbles, <br />holes resulting from removal of ties, and those <br />resulting from leakage of forms shall be patched <br />with grout without resorting to chipping. Minor <br />bulges and offsets at four jo,n is shall be <br />finished as specified herein below. <br />Uniform surfaces - Flatwork <br />1. General. Grade and screed the surfaces to the exact <br />elevation, or slope shown or required, Make proper <br />allowances for setting beds for ceramic tile. After <br />screeding tamp mixture thoroughly to drive the coarse <br />aggregate down from the surfaces and apply the <br />applicable finish specified hereinafter. Cover walks between buildings always slope to <br />drain to the exterior and away from the buildings. <br />At cross intersections of the walks, and at exterior <br />doors, warp the surfaces to drain water from the. <br />walls. Provide control joints as indicated on <br />drawings. Follow the requirements and procedures of <br />ACi 301. <br />2. Finishes - Definitions (See also ACi 301) <br />a. Scratched Finish: After concrete has been <br />placed, struck off, consolidated and leveled to a <br />Class C tolerances, surface shall be roughened <br />with stiff brush, rakes or metal lath roller, <br />before final set.. <br />03300-6 <br />
