41D <br />0 <br />May 25, 1999 <br />Before the completion of the project, the Contractor shall, unless otherwise especially directed or <br />permitted in writing, tear down and remove all temporary buildings and structures which he builds; <br />remove all temporary works, tools, and machinery or other construction equipment furnished by him; <br />remove, acceptably disinfect, and cover all organic matter and material containing organic matter in, <br />under, and around privies, houses, and other buildings used by him; remove all rubbish from any <br />grounds which he has occupied; and leave the roads, all parts of the premises and adjacent property <br />affected by his operations, in a neat and satisfactory condition. <br />The Contractor shall restore or replace, when and as directed, any public or private property damaged <br />by his work, equipment, or employees, to a condition at least equal to that existing immediately prior <br />to the beginning of the operations. To this end, the Contractor shall do all required highway and <br />landscaping work. Acceptable materials, equipment, and methods shall be used for such restoration. <br />The Contractor shall thoroughly clean all materials and equipment installed by him and his <br />subcontractors and on completion of the work shall deliver the facility undamaged and in fresh and <br />new -appearing condition. <br />It is the intent of the Specifications to place the responsibility on the Contractor to restore to original <br />condition items such as but not limited to trees, fencing, shrubbery, signs, light posts, etc., destroyed <br />or damaged during construction. <br />13. MATNTENANCE ANI] PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC (MPOT)! The Contractor shall properly <br />maintain orderly and safe traffic operations at all times during the term of the contract according to <br />the methods and procedures established by the Florida DOT Roadway and Traffic Design Standards, <br />and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Federal Highway Administration). Every effort <br />shall be made to provide maximum vehicular and pedestrian safety at all times. The Engineer shall <br />approve all traffic maintenance and protection plans and operations. <br />BEGINNING DATE OF CC]NTRACTOR"S RESPONSIBILITY <br />The Contractor shall present his Maintenance of Traffic Plan at the pre -construction conference, The <br />Maintenance of Traffic Plan shall indicate the type and location of all signs, lights, barricades, striping <br />and barriers to be used for the safe passage of pedestrians and vehicular traffic through the project <br />and fbr the nrotertn�n Cf the work;cm Th.- pmre wiii irauiate condiliuns und setups for each phase <br />of the Contractors activities. <br />When the project plans include or specify a specific Maintenance of Traffic Plan, alternate proposals <br />will be considered when they are found to be equal to or better than the plan specified. <br />In no case may the Contractor begin work until the Maintenance of Traffic Plan has been approved <br />in writing by the Engineer. Modifications to the Maintenance of Traffic Plan that become necessary <br />shall also be approved in writing. Except in an emergency, no changes to the approved plan will be <br />allowed until approval to change such plan has been received. <br />The cost of all work included in the Maintenance of Traffic Plan shall be included in the pay item for <br />Maintenance of Traffic. <br />SP -4 <br />
