Work under this heading consists of furnishing and installing conduits <br />under the mads at the locations shown on the flans. <br />INSTALLATION <br />A. The conduit shall be installed prior to the construction of the paving <br />subgraade. The conduit shall, unless otherwise noted, be PVC, SCH 40 <br />pipe. Unless otherwise noted, the conduit shall be 4 inch diameter and be <br />installed with 42 inches cover at the centerline of the mad. All conduit shall <br />extend a minimum of four feet beyond the edge of the pavement or, if there <br />is a curb, the back of the curb. <br />B. - The pipe shall be installed straight, level and in strict accordance with <br />the manufacturers recommendations. Backfill shall be compacted in <br />uniform layers to a minimum of 100% of maximum dry density per <br />AASHTO T-180. <br />LOCATION MARKING <br />A. The Contractor shall accurately mark die location and depth of the ends <br />of the conduits by a method which will allow the utility company to <br />readily locate the ends. The Contractor shall also deliver to the Engineer <br />an "AS BUILT" drawing showing the location of the conduits with <br />reference to man holes, street intersections, lot comers or other permanent <br />references. <br />4. AS-BUILTS <br />A. During the installation of utility conduits the Contractor shall keep <br />accurate records of the As -Built construction showing the location and <br />burial depths of all utility conduits. All conduits shall be referenced from <br />permanent objects such as manholes, valves, etc. Upon completion of the <br />project the Contractor shall deliver to the Engineer an As -Built <br />Drawing showing the above information. <br />5. PAYMENT <br />A. Payment for this item shall be on a lineal foot basis for each <br />diameter specified and shall include the cost of all labor, tools, materials, <br />compaction, and equipment necessary to complete the work in accordance <br />Lwith the Plans and Specifications. <br />21-A <br />
