A <br />stones and debris. The sod shall be free from fungus, vernvn and other diseases. <br />2. MIXES <br />A. Fertilizer shall be Agriform 21 Gram Tablets, slow release, 20-10-5 analysis, or an <br />approved equal. Rates of application shall be as follows: <br />1 -gal. can plants 1 tablet each <br />3 -gal. can plants 2 tablets each <br />Palm trees (single stem) 6-8 tablets each <br />Palm trees (multiple stem) 1 tablet per each 3" of stem diameter: <br />cumulative diameter measurement. <br />Trees i tablet per each 1!2" of trunk diameter. for <br />multiple trunks the diameter measurements <br />will be cumulative. <br />B. Starter fertilizer shall be 6-6.6, 100% organic, with minor elements. This fertilizer <br />shall have 40%-50% of its total nitrogen in a water -insoluble form. <br />C. lawn areas shall be treated with fertilizer applied at a rate of twenty (20) pounds per <br />1000 square feet. <br />D. Soil used for planting (planting tnix) shall consist of 70% Florida native peat, 30% <br />wood chips (pine bark passing through 3/4" screen) and sawdust, 3 lb. starter <br />fertilizer per cubic yard. Soil mixture used to back fill planting pits shall consist of <br />two parts of existing topsoil from on site, and one part prepared planting mix. <br />PART 3 - EXECUMN <br />1. PREPARATION <br />A. SM TESTING: The Contractor shall test each site area for soil pH. Provide and <br />supply such soil amendments as are necessary to adjust the pH range of each area to <br />a level that will provide optimum conditions for the vigorous growth of the <br />specified new plant material and grass (6.0 - 6.5). Submit test results and proposed <br />soil amendments outline to the Landscape Architect prior to amending soils. (Soil <br />amendments). <br />B. PLANT PITS: Circular pits with vertical sides shall be excavated for all plants. <br />Diameter of pits for trees, shrubs, and ground cover shall be at least two times <br />greater than the diameter of the ball. <br />2. MaIALLA77ON/APPLICA'l'IONfPERFORMA U <br />A. All plants except as otherwise specified, shall be centered in pits and set on <br />compacted top soil to such a depth that the finished grade level at the plant after <br />settlement will be the same as that at which the plant was grown. No burlap shall <br />be pulled out from under balls. Remove burlap from top 113 of root ball. Roots <br />shall be spread in their normal position. Container grown plants shall not be <br />excessively root bound. All broken or frayed roots shall be cut off cleanly. Soil <br />shall be placed and compacted thoroughly, avoiding injury and shall be settled by <br />2R-4 <br />
