E__] <br />r] <br />I <br />f' <br />watering. No filling will be permitted around trunks. <br />i B. Form temporary earth saucers with six. (6) inch high berm around all newly planted <br />i trees. Saucer diameter for trees four (4) inch caliper or less shall be approximately <br />three (3) feet. Saucer diameter for trees greater than four (4) inch caliper shall be <br />I approximately six (6) feet. Ail trees shall be watered daily for the first month. <br />l Remove saucer berm as final mulching and sodding takes place. <br />C. New planting shall be so set that the final level of ground around the plants shall <br />conform to surrounding grades, or as otherwise specified. <br />E <br />D. Moisten prepared surface immediately prior to laying sod. Solid sod shall be laid <br />1 immediately upon delivery to site with closely abutting joints, with a tamped or <br />r rolled even surface. Stagger end joints minimum of 12 inches. It shall be the <br />responsibility of the Contractor to bring the sod edge in a neat, clean manner to the <br />edge of all paving and shrub areas. After the sod is laid, a top dressing of clean <br />l sand shall be evenly applied over the entire surface and thoroughly washed in, (if <br />} determined necessary by the landscape Architect). Note: Sand will not be required <br />on properly laid sod. <br />�. E. All plant beds, unless otherwise noted, including tree saucers, shall be top -dressed <br />with 3" shredded cypress bark mulch (American Wood Products type "B" or <br />equal). <br />F. The amount of pruning on new plant material shall be limited to the nunimum <br />necessary to remove dead or injured branches to compensate for the loss of roots as <br />a result of transplanting operations. Pruning shall be done in such a manner as not <br />., to change the natural habit or shape of a plant. All cuts over one-half (112) inch <br />diameter shall be treated with an approved tree paint. <br />3. INSTRUCTIONS <br />91 1. The Contractor shall maintain all plant materials in a first class condition from <br />the beginning of landscape construction until the landscape work is accepted by <br />Lthe Owner, including proper watering. <br />2. Maintenance shall include, but not be limited to watering of turf and planting <br />beds, mowing, cultivation, weeding, pruning, disease and pest control, <br />replacement of dead or unacceptable materials, straightening turf or planter <br />settlement areas, guy wire repair and tightening, wash -outs, and any other <br />procedure consistent with good horticultural practice necessary to insure <br />Lnormal, vigorous and healthy growth of all work under this contract. <br />3. Mowing, if necessary prior to final acceptance. shall occur at regular intervals at <br />a mowing height of 3 inches when the grass reaches a height of four and one - <br />Lhalf (4 112) inches with a standard rotary mower. At no time shall more than <br />113 of the leaf surface be removed. <br />4. It will be the Owner's responsibility to continue maintaining tate landscape, <br />following guidelines above, after final acceptance. <br />II <br />B. GRADES: It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to finish (fine) grade all <br />2R-5 <br />6 <br />
