• <br />• <br />C. Tubing dimensions and tolerances shall correspond with the <br />values listed in ASTM D2737, with a standard outside <br />dimension ratio (DR) of 9. <br />d. Tubing shall be fully labeled with brand name and <br />manufacturer, NSF seal, size, type of plastic material, and ASTM <br />designation with which the tubing complies. <br />B . �imi5 <br />Joints for plastic tubing shall be of the compression type, utilizing a <br />totally confuted grip seal and coupling nut, along with a split clamp locking <br />device. <br />Stainless steel tube stiffener inserts shall be used at all plastic tubing joints. <br />,.4 !'r,f Mori e; <br />Detectable buried identification tape shall be installed for all pipe. <br />Tape shall be 2 inches minimum width, consisting of a minimum 5 mil <br />overall thickness with a solid aluminum foil core. Construction shall be 2 <br />tail clear film, reverse print laminated to aluminum foil to 2 mil clear film, <br />malting the film pennanently printed. <br />Tape shall be furnished in manufacturers' standard roll length, meeting the <br />"American Public Works Association"(APWA) color code, and shall be <br />imprinted continuously with the following words, unless otherwise <br />approved: <br />"CAUTION BURIED WATER MAIN BELOW" <br />Detectable buried warning tape shall be equal to or 'better than "PRO- <br />LINE" underground utility marking tape as manufactured by Pro -Line <br />Safety Products Co., 1099 Atlantic Drive, Unit #1, West Chicago, IL. <br />Trace wire shall be continuous #14 THHN, single conductor copper wire. <br />PVC color sheathing shall meet the color code of the "American Public <br />Works Association" (APWA). <br />3. INSTALLAMON <br />A. ins lla 'on of Plastic Water Senriu-,TuWE <br />Tubing shall be installed in accordance with ASTM D2774 standards <br />as modified by these specifications and the Contract Drawings. <br />Plastic tubing shall be installed with a minimum cover of 18 inches. <br />Tubing shall be placed in trench bottoms that provide continuous support <br />and are uniform and free from rocks, stones and other debris. The initial <br />bedding and backfill from 3 inches below the tubing to 4 inches above the <br />tubing shall be -sand or other granular backfill not exceeding 1l2 inch in <br />particle size. Care shall be exercised during backfilling compaction to <br />ensure that sharp or heavy rocks do not come into contact whit the L. <br />tubing. <br />Where possible all service taps into the mainline shall be made apo <br />above perpendicular to the pipe axis.
