40 <br />• <br />1. SCOPE <br />W <br />A. This section describes the material and structural requirements for pipe, <br />joints and fittings to be used in construction of gravity sewerage systems as <br />shown on the Plans. <br />2. GENERAL <br />A. The Contractor shall 'Furnish and install the pipe, fittings and structures <br />as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. <br />B. Standards and specifications referenced herein shall be the current <br />published edition. <br />C. Unless otherwise noted or approved by the Engineer, all <br />materiaWequipment of a particular type, size, or class shall be by a single <br />manufacturer and shall be of the same model or series.. <br />D. The Contractor shall provide to the Engineer upon request a <br />written certification that all materials furnished by him have been <br />manufactured, inspected, and tested in accordance with the applicable <br />specification and/or standard. <br />E. All pipe, fittings and appurtenances shall be new and in good condition, <br />free from damage or defects, and maintained in such condition until <br />incorporated in the finished work. <br />F. Any or all materials found during the progress of the work to have <br />cracks, flaws, or other defects which, in the judgement of the Engineer, <br />would cause leakage, rupture, or otherwise impair the quality of the <br />finished work may be rejected by the Engineer. Rejected materials will be <br />immediately segregated from acceptable materials, marked as <br />"REJECTED", and removed from the job site by the Contractor without <br />delay. <br />a - * W__ 01 <br />1) Unless otherwise noted in the Plans, PVC pipe and fittings shall be <br />Type PSM, SDR 35, push -on joint with thickened integral bell <br />and elastomeric gasket, con forming to ASTM D3034. The pipe <br />shall have a standard laying length of 12.5 feet or 20 feet. <br />Necessary fittings and adapters shall be supplied by the same <br />manufacturer as the PVC pipe and shall be compatible with all <br />other SDR 35 pipe. Joints shall conform to ASTM D3212. <br />Connections to pipes of other materials or to pipes with dimensions <br />not compatible with SDR 35 pipe shall be made using flexible <br />couplings with stainless steel tightening bands as manufactured by <br />Fernco, Inc., or Mission Rubber Co., Inc. or Joints, Inc. <br />B . )2UC1'ILE IRON PIPE AND EM INGS <br />1) Ductile iron pipe shall meet all manufacturing, and testing L <br />requirements of AWWA C151, with push -on or mechanical <br />joints conforming to AWWA C111.
