40 <br />4D <br />L' <br />F. 'rlic amount of pruning on new plant material shall be limited to the minimum <br />necessary to remove dead or injured branches to conapcnsatc for the loss of roots <br />as a result of transplanting. operations. Pruning shall be done in such a manner as <br />not to change the natural habit or shape of a plant. All cuts over one-half (112) <br />inch diameter shall he treated with 'in approved tree paint. <br />3. 'INSTRUCTIONS <br />A. MAII+TRNANCE <br />1. The Contractor shall maintain all plant materials in a first class condition from <br />the 'beginning of landscape construction until the landscape work is accepted <br />ffm by the Owner, including proper watering. <br />2. Maintenance shall include, but not be limited to watering of turf and planting <br />beds, mowing, cultivation, weeding, pruning, disease and pest control, <br />replacement of dead or unacceptable materials, straightening turf or planter <br />settlement areas, guy wire repair and tightening, wash -01.11S, and any other <br />procedure consistent with good horticultural practice necessary to insure <br />normal, vigorous and healthy growth of all work under this contract. <br />3. Mowing, if necessary prior to final acceptance. shall occur at regular intervals <br />at a mowing height of 3 inches when the grass reaches: a height of four and <br />cane -half (4 1/2) inches with a standard rotary mower. At no time shall more <br />than 1/3 of the leaf surface be removed. <br />4. It will be the Owner's responsibility to continue maintaining the landscape, <br />following guidelines above, after final acceptance. <br />B. GRADES: It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to finish (fine) grade all <br />landscape areas, eliminating all surface irrczularitics, depressions, sticks, stones, and <br />other debris, and remove them from the site. Bough grade shall be considered as ;site <br />work (rather than landscaping) and shall he established to within a: 0, i" of design <br />grade. <br />4. CLEANING: The Contractor shall at all times keep the premises (grounds and <br />pavements) free from accumulations of waste material or rtthhish caused by his <br />eiripioyaes or work. <br />2t IN <br />
