C7 <br />C�I <br />40 <br />• <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />1. PREPARATION <br />A. SOIL TESTING: The Contractor shall test each site area for sail pH. Provide and <br />supply such soil amendments as are necessary to adjust the pH range of each area <br />to a level that will provide optimum conditions for the vigorous growth of the <br />specified new Plant material and grass (6.0 - 6.5). Submit test results and <br />proposed soil amendments outline to [lie Landscape Architect prior to amending <br />soils. (Soil amendments). <br />B. PLANT PITS: Circular pits with vertical sides shall be excavated for all plants. <br />Diameter of pits for trees, shrubs, and ground cover shall be at least two times <br />greater than the diameter of the ball. <br />2. I N STA L LAT ION/A P PL ICATI ONIPER FOR MANC E <br />i - <br />A. All plants except as otherwise specified, shall be centered in pits and set oto <br />f compacted top soil to such a depth that the finished grade level at the plant after <br />settlement will be the same as that at which the plant was grown. No burlap shall <br />be pulled out from under balls. Remove burlap from top 113 of root ball, Roots <br />shall be spread in their normal position. Container grown plants shall not be <br />t . excessively root bound. All broken or frayed roots shall be cut off cleanly. Soil <br />shall be placed and compacted thoroughly, avoiding injury and shall be settled by <br />¢ watering. No tilling will be permitted around trunks. <br />k <br />B. Foray temporary earth saucers with six (6) inch high berm around all ncwiy <br />planted trees. Saucer diameter for trees four (q) inch caliper or less shall be <br />approximately three (3) feet. Saucer diameter for trees greater than four (4) inch <br />caliper shall be approximately six (6) feet. All trees shall be watered daily for the <br />pIp first month. Remove saucer berm as final mulchingand sodding takes place. <br />4_ <br />C. New planting shall be so set that the final level of ground around the plants shall <br />conform to surrounding grades, or as otherwise specified. <br />D. Moisten prepared surface immediately prior to laying sod. Solid sod shall be land <br />immediately upon delivery to site with closely Abutting joints, with a tamped or <br />rolled even surface.
