"Soumy" Dean, Director fi <br />Department of General Services <br />SUBJECT: Old Douglas School - Recreation Use <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Recreation Dq%umuent through Commissioner Frac Adams requested some repairs4zollrovelments <br />to the subject locatum winch would enable them to use that fimMy for their programs. <br />Staff met with Pat Callahan an sate to detamitte amcdy what would be required to accomplish the intended <br />recreational use of the facility. Along with requested improvements/repairs, certain items will have to be <br />addressed is order to meet ADA requinnteuts. <br />1. Install coding finis in auditorium and stage area <br />$1,333.00 <br />2. Refinish stage floor, and paint suuditosium <br />500.00 <br />3. Install ADA ramp to front door and install ADA hardware <br />500.00 <br />4. Bathroom renovations to ADA specifications <br />600.W <br />S. Install exit lighting <br />300.00 <br />6. Re -roof <br />, nm nn <br />TOTAL ;9,289.00 <br />This is a rough <br />perform this work of the duction cost but does not include pernm that will be required to <br />ffthe Board approves the project, staff would recommend 510,000 be wrophated since this expenditure <br />was not anticipated during the budget process. <br />Commissioner Bird advised that the project did not have an <br />opportunity to go before Parks & Recreation as they did not have a <br />quorum. However, they did discuss it and the consensus was in <br />favor of the expenditure and in favor of expanding opportunities at <br />that site. He had asked Deputy County Attorney Will Collins to <br />look into the matter of who controls that building. <br />Deputy County Attorney Will Collins stated that the County <br />owns the building, which is leased for 20 years to the Economic <br />Opportunity Council who has sub -let the property to a Head Start <br />type of program for kids. The license for the cafeteria is held by <br />the Wabasso Progressive Civic League.
