C:] <br />1.2.4.2 The first 20 hours will be paid at 90% of the above base hourly rate. For 21 to <br />40 hours, the rate will be 80% of the above base hourly rate. For over 40 <br />hours, the rate will be 45% of the above base hourly rate. <br />1.2.4.3 The number of hours to be paid for shall be the number of hours that the <br />equipment or plant is actually used on a specified force account job. <br />Equipment to be used by the Contractor shall be specifically described and be <br />of suitable size and suitable capacity required for the work to be performed. <br />In the event the Contractor elects to use equipment of a higher rental value <br />than that suitable for the work, payment will be shade at the rate applicable to <br />the suitable equipment. The equipment actually used and the suitable <br />equipment paid for will be recorded as part of the record for force account <br />work. The Engineer shall determine the suitability of the equipment. If there <br />is a differential in the rate of pay of the operator of oversize or higher rate <br />equipment the rate paid for the operator will likewise be that for the suitable <br />equipment. <br />1.2.4.4 In the event that a rate is not established in the .Associated Equipment <br />Distributors Rental Rates for a particular piece of equipment or plant, the <br />Engineer shall establish a rate for that piece of equipment or plant that is <br />consistent with its cost and use. <br />1.2.4.5 It is mutually understood that the base daily rates include all costs incidental <br />to equipment and plant rentals such as maintenance, repairs, gas, oil, electric <br />current, etc., and also the cost of moving to and from the site. <br />1.2.5 Profit and Overhead <br />1.2.5.1 Fifteen percent (15%) of the total of material and labor costs only, as <br />specified in the foregoing paragraphs 16.2.1 and 16.2.2, as compensation for <br />profit and overread. <br />1.2.5.2 If any of the work is perfomsed by a subcontractor, the contractor shall be <br />paid the actual and reasonable cost of such subcontracted work computed as <br />outlined above, or on such other basis as might be approved by the Engineer, <br />plus an additional allowance of five percent (5%) of materials and labor costs <br />as specified in the foregoing paragraphs 16.2.1 and 16.2.2, to cover the <br />contractor's profit, superintendence, administration, insurance and other <br />overhead. The cost of transportation of materials shall be excluded when <br />computing the above-described charges for profit and overhead for <br />subcontracted work.
