Attorney Vitunac commended Personnel Director Ron Baker and <br />the union officers who came to the table this year in cooperation. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner. Bird, the Board unanimously authorized <br />the execution of the contracts between IRC and the <br />I.A.F.F. Local #2201 (Firefighters & Paramedics) and <br />Teamsters Local Union #769, as recommended by staff. <br />3 CONTRACTS ARE ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />JOINT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH D.O.T. FOR 5 -LANE <br />WIDENING IMPROVEMENTS TO 16TH STREET/17TH STREET <br />BETWEEN A POINT 500 FEET WEST OF 14TH AVE. & U.S. #1 <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 8/14/96: <br />TO: <br />FROM:. <br />SUBJECT:. <br />James Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />James W. Davis, P. <br />Public Works Director <br />Joint Participation Agreement Between <br />Florida Department of Transportation and <br />Indian River County for Five Lane Widening Improvements to <br />16th Street/17th Street Between a Point 500' West of Hoc ce-e-e4AAA-e- <br />111111:AveriEre-,and U.S. 1 <br />DATE: August 14, 1996 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Florida Department of Transportation is beginning the Project Development and <br />Environmental Study Phase for the five (5) lane widening improvements to 16th Street <br />between U.S. 1 and just west of 14th Avenue. It is a State requirement on local roadways <br />(not under State jurisdiction) that the local government must fund 12.5% of the cost of the <br />project The State and Federal governments fund the remaining 87.5% of the cost. The <br />attached Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) between the Florida Department of <br />Transportation and Indian River County provides for this joint project funding. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The estimated _cost of the Project Development and Environmental Study is $350,000.00. <br />The County's 12.5% share is $43,750.00. After the Project Development and <br />Environmental Study is complete, the County would also be required to fund a similar <br />share for engineering, construction, etc. The alternatives presented are as follows: <br />62 <br />AUGUST 20, 1996 <br />BOC <br />98 faC.€ 851. <br />
