4. Cable TV interrupt service allows our office to interrupt currently <br />broadcasting television programs with current weather warnings, <br />or other warnings, pertaining to our immediate area. <br />5. Once the Emergency Operations Center is activated, the EOC will <br />be broadcasting live on the government access channel. These <br />channels can be found on AT&T Cable channel 13 in the south <br />county area, and Falcon Cable channel 35 in the north county <br />area. <br />6. Amateur radio communications nre provided by RACES/ARES <br />volunteers, using equipment within the EOC. More specific <br />information related to communications issues can be found in the <br />description for ESF #2 (Communications), located in Annex I - <br />Response Functions. <br />7. The primary EOC has auxiliary power provisions capable of <br />sustaining operations for five days. The secondary EOC has <br />auxiliary power provisions capable of sustaining operations for <br />three days. <br />8. The Emergency Management Director, and his staff, will notify key <br />officials and emergency related organizations of any signifi ant <br />emergency events that may promulgate the opening of the EOC. <br />The Emergency Management Director, and/or his designee, has the <br />authority to activate the public warning system at any time an <br />emergency event threatens persons or property. <br />10. Predetermined evacuation areas include the barrier island, low-lying <br />areas, mobile/manufactured homes, sub -standard housing, RV <br />parks and marinas. Initial notification will be through media <br />resources and may be augmented by the use of bull horn <br />announcements and door-to-door visits by public safety officers. <br />11. The County FOC will communicate with the SEDC on all <br />activations, warnings and SITREPS by means of either ESATCOM, <br />commercial telephone or radio frequency links. <br />Indian River County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan Basic Page 71
