800,� 98 f.�vH 988 <br />have bid on similar projects are located in Orlando, Lake City, anct <br />Palatka, and each charges a travel and set-up charge in addition to <br />their hourly and height rates. <br />Communications International, a local company, has submitted a <br />proposal to complete the project for a total of $8,749.84 which <br />includes all communications parts, material, and labor. Staff is <br />seeking Board authd-tization for Communications International to <br />perform the necessary renovation/replacement of the EOC <br />communications tower on a sole source basis since the company is <br />the vendor who will be installing the 800 MHz radio system as well <br />as the system manager at the Emergency Operations Center. Staff <br />submits using the same vendor who is installing the other <br />electronics will preclude finger pointing should problems surface <br />during or after the work is completed. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the Board authorize Communications International <br />to provide the labor and materials for the EOC communications tower <br />renovation/replacement in the amount of $8,749.84. The funding <br />source is existing capital and non -capital accounts of the <br />Emergency Management budget of the current fiscal year as <br />referenced above. <br />In addition, staff is requesting that the Board approve <br />Communications International as the sole source vendor for this and <br />other communications projects associated with the overall 800 MHz <br />communications project subject to negotiations with the vendor to <br />ascertain and ensure that the County is obtaining labor and <br />materials at reasonable prices. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />Communications International as the sole source <br />vendor for this and other communications projects <br />associated with the overall 800 Mhz communications <br />project and authorized Communications International <br />to provide the labor and materials for the EOC <br />communications tower renovation/ replacement in the <br />amount of $8,749.84, pursuant to staff's <br />recommendations. <br />STATE AND LOCAL ASSISTANCE (SLA) GRANT -AMENDMENT #1 <br />TO FY 95/96 AGREEMENT - PURCHASE OF CAPITAL EQUIPMENT <br />WITH GRANT FUNDS - BUDGET AMENDMENT <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of August 27, 1996: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Doug Wright, Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />FROM: John King, Emergency Management Coordinator <br />Division of Emergency Management <br />DATE: August 27, 1996 <br />SUBJECT: Amendment #1 To The FY -95/96 State And Local Assistance <br />(SLA) Grant Agreement Prior Approved By The Board,- <br />Purchase <br />oard,Purchase of 'Capital Equipment With Grant Funds;_ And <br />Budget Amendment <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein <br />be given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners <br />at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />On March 12, 1996, the BCC approved the FY -95/96 State and Local <br />Assistance (SLA) Agreement, formerly known as the Emergency <br />SEPTEMBER 3, 1996 32 <br />
