• <br />40 <br />40 <br />The Indian River County Health Department Director will use <br />existing information in accordance with established <br />procedures to evaluate the potential for off-site exposure <br />and to determine the adequacy of any protective actions. <br />Based upon the results of the above, the Indian River <br />County Health Department Director will coordinate his/her <br />concerns with the Indian River County Emergency Services <br />representative(s). <br />The decision to deploy assessment and monitoring <br />personnel will be made by the Chairman of the BCC, after <br />consultation with the directors of the Indian River County <br />Health Department and the Indian River County Department <br />of Emergency Services. The facility from which hazardous <br />materials are released is responsible for providing technical <br />support to local, state and federal monitoring teams. <br />8,3.3 Coordination of Assessment & Monitoring Activities <br />The mission of the Indian River County Health Department <br />in the event of a hazardous materials emergency will be to: <br />1. Evaluate the potential exposure projections to <br />persons off-site which may result from the <br />emergency. <br />2. Make recommendations to the Chairman of the BCC <br />regarding appropriate protective actions. <br />3. Conduct field monitoring to prepare and confirm <br />projections. <br />4. Evaluate potential exposure resulting from <br />contamination of materials in the vulnerable zone <br />surrounding the facility. <br />5. Evaluate exposure to emergency personnel resulting <br />from operations related to the emergency. <br />6. Establish appropriate operational dose limits and <br />maintain permanent records of -lose received. <br />7.
