40 <br />40 <br />a <br />Requesting assistance, through the Indian <br />River County Department of Emergency <br />Services, from appropriate agencies necessary <br />to neutralize and/or contain the hazardous <br />materials involved. <br />Responding to, and assuming initial control of <br />the management of hazardous material <br />incident scenes occurring within its jurisdiction <br />until a representative of the Indian River <br />County Department of Emergency Services <br />arrives. <br />2.2.6 Indian River County Engineering & Public Works Department <br />The Engineering & Public Works Department(s) will provide <br />the following assistance: <br />- Assisting in containment and cleanup of spills <br />by providing equipment and personnel as <br />necessary. <br />- Assisting law enforcement agencies with <br />evacuation operations by providing traffic <br />control equipment and personnel. <br />- Assisting the local fire division in assembling <br />and dissembling washdown stations and <br />disposing of waste materials. <br />- Assisting the American Red Cross, Indian River <br />County Chapter, by providing garbage pickup <br />and disposal for reception centers and <br />shelters. <br />2.2.7 Indian River County Wlealth Department <br />The Indian River County Health Department is responsible <br />for: <br />- Coordinating all health anJ medical services. <br />Indian River County Emergency Plan for Hazardous Materials Page 56 <br />
