40 <br />• <br />2,2.4 Indian Inver County Department of Emergency Services, <br />Emergency Medical Services Division <br />The Emergency Medical Services Division will provide <br />emergency medical transportation to persons in need of <br />such services, may assist in the evacuation and transfer of <br />patients from nursing homes and hospitals in the affected <br />areas, and will coordinate the evacuation of persons with <br />special needs who are unable to evacuate themselves. <br />2.2.5 Indian River County Department of Emergency Services, Fire <br />Division <br />Responsibilities shared by the Fire Division include: <br />- Determining the type of and nature of the <br />hazardous material involved. <br />- Giving full cooperation to assisting agencies <br />involved in determining action to be taken to <br />contain the hazardous material and restore the <br />area to normal. <br />- Initially determining the necessity for an <br />evacuation, issue evacuation orders when <br />appropriate, and identify the vulnerable zone <br />to be evacuated. <br />- Notifying the E-9-1-1 Communication Center <br />and the Indian River County Department of <br />Emergency Services, which will make proper <br />notification to federal and state agencies as <br />required by federal and state laws. <br />- Providing vehicle washdown and monitoring, <br />when necessary, at prescribed locations and in <br />a manner consistent with the Florida <br />Department of Environmental Regulation <br />and/or Health Department direction. <br />- Requesting assistance from appropriate federal <br />and state agencies through the Indian River <br />County Department of Emergency Services. <br />Indian fiver County Emergency Plan for Hazardous Materials Page V"5 <br />
