No additional positions <br />are proposed. <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing and asked if anyone <br />wished to be heard in this matter. <br />George Bachman, 552 9th Place, Vero Beach, spoke in support of <br />the Emergency Services District budget as presented. He believed <br />that the firefighters are underpaid. He presented statistical <br />information on multi -family housing units being built in the County <br />and requested that the Board consider the county's growth and <br />population increase when budgeting for emergency services. <br />For the record, Commissioner Eggert advised that the county's <br />population has not increased as quickly as had been projected. <br />It was determined that no one else wished to be heard and the <br />Chairman closed the public hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously adopted the <br />proposed Emergency Services District millage of <br />2.3129 which is 1.54% above the rollback millage of <br />2.2778. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously adopted the <br />proposed Emergency Services District budget in the <br />amount of $13,021,447, which is a $197,298 increase <br />over the current year. <br />Environmentally Sensitive Land Acquisition Bond <br />Administrator Chandler announced that the millage rate for the <br />Environmentally Sensitive Land Acquisition Bond as reflected on the <br />TRIM notices is 0.2897 and the proposed budget amount is <br />$1,635,954. This budget basically covers principle and interest on <br />the outstanding bond issue. <br />Commissioner Macht asked the millage amount for the Library <br />Bond, and Budget Director Baird advised that it was .3967. <br />R <br />September 4, 1996 <br />
