Thompson Elementary School (Cafetorium and Media Center) <br />Address: 1110 18th Avenue Vero Beach, Florida, 32962 <br />Coordinates: <br />Latitude: N27°46'09" <br />Discussion: <br />Longitude: W80°31711" <br />d1 <br />I. A. Thompson Elementary School is located on l8th Aventic S.W. approximately 1.5 miles west of <br />U.S. 1. Under the direction of Indian [liver Departinent of lrmrgency Management, the Cafetorium and <br />Media Center were evaluated as a possible hurricane evacuation shelter. <br />Flood and Ilazmat Considerations: <br />A site plan showing existing elevations was not available but the campus is located in a Zone W area <br />according to Flood Insurance Rate Map, panel 168 of 169, Map No.12061CO 168 C, with an effective date <br />of May 4, 1989. Evidence of flooding or ponding was not apparent. <br />The HE -S building is within the Vulnerability Zone of two Section 302 facilities that have a low release <br />potential in a hurricane event. Information was provided by local emergency management that ammonia, <br />chlorine, hydroflouric acid and sulfuric acid were present in these facilities. <br />1 -he campus is not located within a ten mile Emergency !Tanning Tone of a nuclear Facility. <br />
