Cost sharing request (S]RWMD's share cannot exceed 50%n of total project cost.)
a, Total project cost.............................................................—S _573,600
b. Amount of cost share requested ........................ . ....................... $ $36,800 500/6),
2. Purpose. Explain the purpose(s) of the project. (Do not rcFer to attachments.)
Increase efficiency af_trLatttacnt process byg grad'ang 1i.0. nrcmbrancs in ardor toproduce more potable
Water and reduce (lie _gtrarttity of R.O. coiicrntratc ucncrated.
3. Brief description of project. Include approximate dimensions and capacities. (Do not refer to
attachments.)
Reverse Osmosis R.O. water treatment process involves micron level filtration_ thatencrates a waste
stream hyproduct referred to as concentrate. Currently, concentrate_ is dischars'cd to the Indian_ River
where it is commingled with the waters of the intra coastal waterwa and disposed. A thirds a R.O.
mcmbranc Will be added to increase diepermeate production from 80% to 90%, thus rcducJpg the amount
of R O concentrate (reelect water) discharged from 750,000 gpd to 375,000 gpd, resulting in a nei
eduction in the quantity of Rd concentrate dischaWd to the River. Tine third sk, a R.O. membrane
cold also result in an additional 441UUU pd of blended notable %v ter available for supply. This phase
of the project will involve constructing ain lot plant and analyzing water quality to detenn'snc if larec
scale imMementation is feasible Approximately 1,000 lineal Net or 4 -inch diameter transmission main
will be requircd to transport the,RO concentrate from an active transmission RQ Conecrntratc main to the
County's N rth Regimi l Wastewater Facility_where die pilot plant will be located. The pilot plant will
be designed toyioducc; approximately 4,6(H) gallons per dAy of pcnncatc.
EVALUATION FACTOR related to questions 2 and 3.
Will the project implement new or innovative procedures or technology, which can serve as a demonstration,
pilot project, or source of useful data for water resource nnulagemcnt? 1-10 points. Based on rater :s
as.sessnnesnl of the degree of innovariann bring proposed or the wiiity ref data generated by the pro jeer, with
greater innovation or usefidrness of data gelling more ixninrs.
4.
