40 <br />C7 <br />40 <br />• <br />STEPS FOR GRIEVANCE PROCESSING <br />If a grievance arises, the grievant must meet with and discuss the grievance with the <br />Operations Supervisor in charge of the shift within ten calendar days (excluding <br />weekends or County -recognized holidays) of the event giving rise to the grievance. In <br />the event the issue in dispute cannot be resolved between the supervisor and the <br />grievant, the grievance shall be presented in writing by the grievant at Step 1 of the <br />grievance procedure within five calendar days (excluding weekends or County - <br />recognized holidays) from the date of the supervisory meeting. Such written grievance <br />must indicate that the matter had been reviewed with the immediate supervisor. <br />Std 1 ; The grievant shall present the written grievance to the EMS Chief, The <br />EMS Chief shall meet with the grievant within five calendar days (excluding weekends <br />or County -recognized holidays) of receipt of the written grievance. A union steward <br />or a union representative may accompany the grievant at the meeting if the union is <br />not the grievant. The EMS Chief shall reach a decision and communicate it in writing <br />to the grievant with a copy to the union if it is not the grievant within five calendar <br />days (excluding weekends or County -recognized holidays) from the date of the <br />grievance meeting. If the grievance is not satisfactorily resolved, the grievant may <br />forward the grievance to Step 2. <br />
