26.06 REQUEST FOR LEAVE <br />A. To receive compensation while absent on medical leave, the <br />employee shall notify the employee's immediate supervisor or EMS <br />Chief prior to or as soon as possible after time set for beginning <br />the daily duties. An employee in a unit operating on a twenty-four <br />hour basis must notify the department within the time limit <br />established by the EMS Chief. <br />B. In the event that an employee is suspected of abusing medical <br />leave privileges, the EMS Chief shall request a physician's <br />certificate to verify the illness.. <br />26.07 CHARGING LEAVE <br />A. Medical leave time shall be charged to the employee for the actual <br />time the employee is away from work. <br />B. Medical leave will be charged in not less than one hour minimum <br />periods for time less than one day. <br />26.0$ SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR PRUDENT USE OF 11AEDICAL LEAVE <br />Medical leave accumulated in excess of one hundred days prior to the <br />employee's anniversary date shall be compensated by paying the <br />employee by the middle of the month following the month in whiwi the <br />employee's anniversary date occurs for one-half such excess leave at the <br />employee's regular hourly straight time pay. <br />
