DEP AGREEMENT RELATING TO THE DREDGING OF THE CANAL <br />SERVING VERO SHORES SUBDIVISION <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 9/25/96: <br />TO: James E. Chandler, <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Agreement Relating to the Dredging of the Canal Serving Vero Shores <br />Subdivision <br />DATE: September 25, 1996 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The County Public Works Department has assisted the Vero Shores Homeowner's <br />Association (HOA) in obtaining a Florida DEP permit for the dredging of the <br />channel between the Intracoastal Waterway and Vero Shores Subdivision. The <br />permit was issued in the County's name, however, the Vero Shores Homeowners <br />Assoc. will contract with a marine contractor and pay all costs. To formally <br />delegate construction supervision to the Homeowners Association, staff has <br />prepared the attached agreement. The HOA will hold the County harmless against <br />all claims associated with the Project. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The following alternatives are presented: <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Approve the Agreement and delegate all project construction, <br />supervision, and payment to the three parties as specified (Vero <br />Shores HOA, Subaqueous Services, Inc. and Riverpoint, Inc.) <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny approval of the agreement and instruct staff to manage <br />construction including formal bidding. Funding to be by the HOA. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Alternative No. 1 is recommended whereby the Agreement be approved and the <br />Chairman is authorized to execute it. <br />73 <br />OCTOBER 1, 1996 <br />BOOK 99 PAGE -31 <br />
