What does the County need less of? <br />2. What does the County need more of? <br />Less Of / More Of <br />“Conservation” was the number one response to the question, “What does the County need more of?” <br />Ranking <br />The community at in-person workshops ranked Environmental Conservation as the second highest priority out of the six <br />categories. <br />Thought Wall <br />During this exercise, Environmental Conservation was the third highest priority based on total number of comments. <br />Attendees generally provided the following comments regarding transportation (italics represent a “highest priority” <br />thought): <br />◊ Protect and preserve: Water quality, wildlife habitats, agricultural lands, trees, open green land / natural land <br />◊ Maintain and improve stormwater management <br />◊ Control the negative side effects of growth on the environment, including but not limited to reducing the removal of <br />mature trees for new development <br />◊ Designate more conservation areas and increase conservation efforts <br />◊ Implement stricter environmental protection rules, including requiring sewer hookup and increasing mitigation costs <br />for developers <br />◊ Provide ecotourism opportunities <br />PAGE 93
