ANALYSIS <br />Below please find the estimated costs associated with the proposed <br />Calgon, Inc., Pilot Program at both the South County, R.O. facility <br />and the sludge facility. <br />South County R.O. Facility <br />ITEMS COST <br />1. Power Cost (Estimated) $1,000.00 <br />2. Staff (data review) $1,000.00 <br />*3. Water plant continuing $1,500.00 <br />services engineering review <br />Total $3,500.00 <br />The County's estimated expenditure for the pilot project is <br />$2,000.00, excluding a consultant's review. Calgon's estimated <br />expenditure for this project is $241,200 with contingency, which <br />is not an expense to the County. <br />Sludge Facilit <br />1. Power Cost (Estimated) $ 200.00 <br />2. Staffing costs $ 2,000.00 <br />*Total County Cost $ 3,200.00 <br />*This cost is exclusive of outside engineers review and County paid <br />trip to review the Calgon Carbon research and development project. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends approval <br />of the pilot/research project as outlined above. <br />Chairman Adams questioned whether this was the project <br />approved for the pad at a recent meeting, and Capital Projects <br />Engineer Bill McCain confirmed that at last week's meeting the <br />Board approved the infrastructure which will be used for this <br />project. <br />Chairman Adams then questioned whether the product has been <br />decided on, and Mr. McCain stated this is a pilot test to see if <br />the project works. <br />Mr. McCain continued that this will be 4 to 6 month test and <br />then staff will come back to the Board with their recommendations. <br />OCTOBER 22, 1996 39 BOOK- 99 PA.E50i <br />
