Performance and Payment Bonds(Surety) <br />Within ten (10) days of receipt of the Contract Documents for execution, the successful bidder <br />shall furnish a Performance Bond in an amount equal to 125% of the contract price and a <br />t Payment Bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall provide two separate bonds, a combined Payment and <br />Performance Bond for 125% of the contract price is not an acceptable substitute. <br />f The CONTRACTOR is required at all times to have valid Performance and Payment Bonds <br />i <br />in force covering the work being performed. A failure to have such bonds in force at any time <br />shall constitute a default on the part of the CONTRACTOR. If the surety writing the <br />Performance and Payment Bonds becomes disqualified, then this shall automatically <br />constitute a failure on the part of the CONTRACTOR to meet the above requirements. <br />I <br />i <br />In lieu of the Performance and Payment Bonds, the CONTRACTOR may furnish an <br />alternative form of security in the form of cash, money order, certified check, cashier's check, <br />irrevocable letter of credit or a security as listed in Part II of F.S. Chapter 625. Any such <br />alternative form of security shall be for the same purpose, and be for the same amount and <br />subject to the same conditions as those applicable to the bond otherwise required. The <br />determination of the value of an alternative form of security shall be made by the owner. <br />Such Bonds shall continue in effect for one (1) year after completion and acceptance of the <br />i_• <br />work. <br />R. Protection of Public <br />t <br />1. The CONTRACTOR shall erect and maintain barricades and sufficient safeguards <br />around all excavation, embankments or obstructions; he shall place sufficient amber <br />lights at or near the work, keep the same burning from sunset to sunrise, employ <br />watchmen and strictly obey all laws and ordinances controlling or limiting those <br />engaged on similar work. All maintenance of traffic work shall comply with Section <br />a 102 and Special Provision Item 102-1 of the Florida Department of Transportation <br />Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. <br />2. Where there are telephone, telegraph, light, or power poles, water main, conduits, <br />pipe, or drains; or other construction either public or private; in or on the streets or <br />alleys; the work shall be so conducted that no interruption or delay will be caused in <br />the operation or use of the same. Proper written notice shall be given and all the <br />facilities afforded the owners of such construction encountered or likely to be <br />encountered, as will enable them to preserve the same from injury. <br />} 3. The CONTRACTOR will not be permitted to interfere with public travel and <br />convenience by grading or tearing up streets indiscriminately, but the work of <br />conducting the various items of this Contract shall proceed in an orderly, systematic <br />and progressive manner. <br />SUPPLEMENTARY CONDITIONS <br />Sc 9 <br />
