to enter into such a contract. The Board of County Commissioners <br />then published an invitation to bid. A contract was executed with Mr. <br />Long on a flat fee per case basis of $600.00 for non -capital felony cases <br />and $300.00 for misdemeanor and juvenile. The original contract had an <br />expiration date of December 31, 1994 but was extended to December 31, <br />1995 and again to December 31, 1996. <br />It appears appropriate to again issue an RFP rather than just keep <br />extending the present contract. Accordingly, it is recommended that <br />the Board authorize the issuance of the attached RFP and authorize the <br />formation of a review committee as before. The proposed RFP provides <br />for bidding on a flat fee per case basis and a lump sum bid for all <br />cases. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously approved <br />issuance of the RFP to provide legal representation <br />for indigent adults and juveniles in Indian River <br />County and authorized the formation of a review <br />committee as before, as recommended '`in the <br />Memorandum. <br />FAC SELECT CONIlVIITTEE - TELECONICATIONS MEETING <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of October 30, 1996: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Char es P.
